B17 Flying Fortress Lands at Venice Airport
The B-17G Boeing “Flying Fortress” is one of the most famous planes ever built. This one, named “Nine-O-Nine,” was at Venice airport for three days, giving people sample flights around the local area. People exited the aircraft with a look as though they traveled back in the past once aboard. But boy could you see the joy in their face, plus the kids liked it the most as they have not seen a B17 or know its history and the large role it played in World War II.
Very few of these WW II aircraft are still operational today. Only fountains or collectors have these aircraft due in part that most are custom made and maintenance preformed to keep the aircraft in top shape. At the next air show you should come and take a ride in “Nine-O-Nine” as it is a wonderful flight in history.
